The ECOLAB Energies
Company
ECOLAB Energies is a company specialized in the design and
manufacture of "OASIS" pumping windmills. Founded as a small
family firm in 1927, ECOLAB Energies and its five-men team
build their models with the same enthusiasm that it showed more than 70 years
ago. Backed by strong tradition, the firm takes special care to exploit the
experience it has acquired while also making use of new technologies in order
to constantly improve the efficiency of its windmills.
Today, more than 20,000 models have been sold in countries at every
latitude, ranging from temperate areas (Europe) to the tropics (West Indies,
Madagascar, etc.) and equatorial zones (Black Africa).
They have demonstrated their efficiency and durability in every type of
climate.
Supported by our know-how, you can adapt our product ranges according to
the specific requirements of the locations where you wish to site them and of
their intended uses in order to solve:
- climatic
problems
- problems related to
the lie of the land
- pumping problems
Thanks to the specially engineered reliable and robust design, the
"OASIS" pumping windmill allows you to perform pumping operations
in an efficient and durable manner for all types of applications:
- irrigation of
crops
- village pumping
facilities
- fire-fighting
- oxygenation of
ponds
- fish farming
- maintaining of game
stocks by creating watering places
- livestock rearing

The OASIS windmill
The performance levels of windmills depend on a number of factors, the
main ones being the following:
Flow rates can vary from 500 litres to 15,000 litres per hour, depending
on the model selected. "OASIS" pumping windmills are capable of
pumping as much as 60 metres on the discharge side and 6 metres on the
suction side. Pumping to a depth of 100 metres can be provided after carrying
out a specific case study.
The pumping mode - suction or discharge - depends on the method of pump
installation:
- vertically above the
well, either of these two modes can be used,
- at a maximum
distance of up to 100 metres from the well, only suction mode can be
used (assuming that the height difference is no more than 6 metres).
In recognition of our know- how, "OASIS" windmills have passed
tests conducted by CWD (Consultancy Services Wind Energies for developing
countries) as a result of which they were chosen for a large-scale windmill
programme in Mauritania: the ALIZES programme. Currently, more than 250
windmills are in service in this country

Technical Features:
Delivery
:
The "OASIS" windmill is supplied
in kit form in several packages. Each model comprises the following standard items:
- A wheel equipped
with a drive head comprising 15 blades of galvanized sheet metal. Their
specially adapted curvature, studied in wind tunnel tests, ensures that
the windmill operates even at very low wind speeds of less than 3 m/s.
The rotating motion of the wheel is converted into vertical
reciprocating motion on the windmill head by means of a crank and connecting
rod system. This motion is transmitted to the pump piston by the linkage
bolted onto the bearing neck at the base of the connecting rod.
- A tower made up of
steel angles treated with a coat of rustproof paint or by hot
galvanizing to ensure very long-term protection. A suction and discharge
piston pump (range of 40 mm to 140 mm) comprising a brass cylinder, a
bronze piston, two flanges and 3 or 4 tie rods.
The materials used must be selected according to the water quality. It
may be necessary to equip some installations with stainless steel parts.
(Please consult us).
- A rudder to keep the
wheel facing into the wind and a feathering blade. This assembly is
articulated so as to ensure that the windmill is set to safety mode in
case of gusts with a wind speed of more than 9 m/s or storms. In these
circumstances, the windmill's rotational speed does not exceed 80
rpm.
- Pumping accessories:
a bronze strainer, a bleed valve to be fitted on the piping at a height
of 20 cm above ground level in order to avoid problems with freezing.
Plus the equipment specific to each installation: small or large radius
elbow, outlet tee junction, etc.
Erection
:
- This operation can
be carried out by the customer with the help of an explanatory manual
(one day's work for two people). Our technicians are ready to give
advice by telephone at all times.
- A network of
approved independent installers is also at your disposal. (Please
consult us for details).
Maintenance
:
It is essential to comply with maintenance recommendations in order to
ensure the correct operation and long service life of these machines.
Maintenance is carried out with the windmill stopped and consists of just the
two following operations:
- greasing of bearings
(once or twice a year).
- bleeding of piping
in case of freezing conditions. .
A stuffing box can be installed in the well to allow pumping to be
continued during the winter without any problems with freezing.
The ground stop device designed to facilitate maintenance work is supplied as
optional equipment. This device is recommended as an easy means of preventing
problems due to freezing and drying-out of the well.
After
sale service:
We will provide the following services at all times:
- the diagnosis of
failures and advice on useful repair procedures.
- the delivery of
required parts within 48 hours, if available in stock.
Please get in touch with one of our installers or contact our head office
directly..
Our machines are covered by a one-year guarantee for use in normal
conditions.
